Intergenerational Hmong Art Exhibition

DATE: July 2008
RECEPTION:  July 4 at 6:30 p.m. (SAVE THE DATE)
LOCATION:  Homewood Gallery, 2400 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411, www.homewoodstudios.com

REmix; Intergenerational Hmong Art Exhibition is inspired by the rich art created by our elders, from the intricate needlework, poetic singing and instrumental music performed by young men and women, oral storytelling, or carpentry and blacksmithing/silversmithing. REmix bridges the gap between Hmong intergenerational artists. Elder and younger artists are challenged to rediscover their art by reclaiming, reinterpreting, reinventing, and rejuvenating the traditional to the contemporary.

There are venues that are embracing Hmong art and have opportunities to host exhibitions. Artists from the Throwing Pebble in the Pond and REmix will have the opportunity to showcase their work in the Minneapolis government center this fall. HAIL and FORCAST Public Art are partnering together to exhibit contemporary Hmong artists and their work. Do let me know if you want to participate.
